Yep its party time
.. cause our beloved Pac-Man has now become 3 decades old..Capturing imaginations of millions..it has walked into gaming hall of fame a s agame that has kept men occupied for more hours than any other game ever..A legend, a social icon in mid 80s and unarguably one of the most popular arcade games ever designed..has seen many transformations from a revolutionary video game at the time when only arcades developed were derivatives of pong or the space shooters or the astreoids to an omnipresent desktop game, to a cartoon and moviie character, to a highly selling merchendise to even its 3d avatar..this game has entertained millions with its simple yet elegent and fast gameplay.. Hats Off to you Toru Iwatani ...
Well the yellow pie character was percieved by Toru Iwatani as he describes it :"while having a pizza".And en began the next gen of responsive and interactive gaming..and whats more the game upon its release was the only indefinite game as in u could play untill u die...
If u think of it people who got hooked on to it since its release could probably be in their late thirties or forties. and probably would be seein their kids play the same game they were hooked on to...
And who can forget the four of the most famous monsters of the mordern gaming era Shadow,Speedy ,Bashful and Pokey didnt we love to turn them purple or freeze them, but the dreaded things always seemed to have a way of finding PacMan through any maze..Neways on 21 may 1980 the game was originally christned as Pakkuman by the original distributors Namco..interestingly Paku means sound made by mouth( i wonder waht other kinds of sounds could be there ..and mouth produces all kinds of sounds..) and thePac Man name much later from some of its distributors in US.
well now we have all sorts of Pac Mans for all sort of consoles like atari,sega games boys, apple pcs of all gens, NES,and a 3d version for XBOX specially designed by Toru Iwatani himself.But my fav still remains the original Perfect Play version..

2)The Pac man vs: Originally designed for nintendo game cube.. was probably the first multiplayer game with one player taking car of the Pac Man and others control the monsters.It took advantage of the game cube-game boy connectivity....a playercould be even assigned to display the maze.3)Pac Man the CHampionship Edition: The most recent game in the pac man franchize for XBOX and iphone..
Craze of Pac Man that still exist in the current society despite the availibility of high def virtual reality games can be gauged by the fact that there are numerous Pac man championships held annually the most famous of them bein the Pac Man World Championship held in NYC...also google dedicated a doodle to it on its 30th bday...
