100% CUT OFFS- THE BEST U CAN DO IS STAY AT PAR

The news about admissions in DU this year.

Craziness as they say is infectious and unbound, it unleashes without a room for a rational thought , relishes comfortably beyond the realms of logic and establishes a  self-righteous eco-system for itself,  where known facts culminate with the new order and insanity brutally murders humanity.

Or to put it plainly in the perspective of DU admissions this year:......  the institutions in the country have "GONE NUTS".....

Already a nightmare for parents and students alike, the admission season has become a time when students , instead of preparing for making choices for a fruitful future , brace themselves to get tortured and humiliated at the hands of  the "Merchants of Education".

Well if you are wondering why a decision by single college has triggered this huge upset not only in my mind but also nationwide then its because of two reasons:

1) Its just the tip of the iceberg,  its the one college that we know about , because of the figure - 100%, there are others who have come up with cut-offs of 99,98,97 and so on. Its almost like retail prices in the country ..... Rs 17999, as if keeping it within 18000 was a great favor........ similar to them are these cut-offs by the other colleges.... "97%, the others have it at hundred , ours is only 97".

2) Its a symptom of a bigger epidemic: Yes this certainly would mark the beginning of an era where ignorance, incapability and sheer reason would find no tolerance. Instead we would have a generation whose natural talent, and instinctive interests would be mercilessly slaughtered for the promise of a lucrative education.

But even for those whose who aspire for an academic career, and who have the potential of securing a clean sweep 100%, its a day of deep mourning...... cause they no longer have the room for attaining excellence in their lives. All they can do is to fulfill the minimum required criteria.

Time and again the flaw in judging an individual using his/her performance in a certain examination, the practice of tagging adjectives and the act of disposing off their plea for depicting their skills, has been exhibited. This is more so damaging in a country like ours where an individual's worth is not only determined by the so called performance measures but also the discipline of your education and where you acquire it from.

What u are capable of is a question that would always be examined "some other day".....

And till then the entire system stays absurd and stays flawed. What is a fair substitute.... I don't know... but I sincerely hope someone does , and comes up with it really fast... as an entire generation lays at stake.

LORD-ALMIGHTY!!!! happy bday Jon Lord

Jon Douglas Lord... a legendary name in the classic rock circuit, god of the Hammond organ, the adjectives run for pages. The legendary keyboard player of the legendary rock band Deep Purple, was born on this very day 69 years ago( 9th June 1941 in Leicester). Well to begin with, thank u sir for all the wonderful pieces both as a member of deep purple and as a solo artist. And i genuinely hope that u come out of your retirement and come up with many more of them.

Well when I  think of Jon Lord the first thing that comes to my mind is the numerous bluesy and jazz based solos that u can find through out the Deep Purple discography. But his real greatness lies in the way he converted keyboards and organs from backup rock instruments to mainstream rock instruments on which u could solo, shread, or even orchestrate the bgm..(the others who did the same were probably Ray Manzarek of The Doors, Rick Wakeman of Yes an Keith Emerson of ELP.. gosh I've failed to gauge the similarity between them that all of them are from Classical to Jazz background)..Neways he through his work has inspired almost the generations of keyboard players who have followed him... And his blues and jazz style and almost mortally impossible fast solos are still a treat to ne keyboard lover..

Jon Lord employed the "hard rock" style on the Hammond, and he often used tube distortion and overdrive through regular speakers, as opposed to the Leslie. He was also known for playing heavy and fast keyboard riffs, in the same way that Blackmore would on his guitar. The best example of this is the song "Fireball," where he used thrash metal-like riffs, and he used a Maestro RM-1A ring modulator in the solo. He was also the first to play a Hammond through a (Marshall) guitar amp.

Some of his techniques are soloing in F blues (F - A flat - B flat - B natural - C - E flat - E natural - F) with repeated licks. Oftentimes he would play a lick three times, expound in the fourth, and then move on to something else. He also played extremely fast triplets (Hush, for instance), and strived to make his organ sound as dirty as a guitar.

As a classically trained musician (his father was a church organist) Jon Lord's style is a mixture of baroque, rock, blues and funk. A good example of this blend is the "Sarabande" album.

He is known for being the keyboardist of "Deep Purple" , but he played for many other great artists as well; The Kinks, Ian Gillan, Artwoods, Whitesnake, Sam Brown, and Tom Waits, among others.

He really trashed a C3 in one concert (Scandinavian Night); a key jumped out of its place and Jon put it back in. You can just imagine how hard and fast he played.

Equally important is his solo career which began after he left Deep Purple in 2002 ( before which he left all his audiences with pieces like perfect strangers during the MK 2 phase)..in which he has performed many of his classical compositions with various artists and orchestras...

At the of 69 his impact on music world is so profound that his albums are still raking chart.. His latest album "To Notice Such Things"( released at 29th March 2010) entered the UK charts at no 4... He s also among the top 10 living composers...

He is unarguably one of the greatest rock keyboardist of all time.. and its a divine experience every time that u play ne song of his, unaffected by the synth and electronic revolution that has caught up among keyboard players since the late 90s this wizard continues to weave his magic with the most traditional from of playin the keys.. on an analog organ or the piano... and proudly does he claim every piece he has created to be work of his mind and fingers and not a petty software runnin inside ur keyboard or on ur mac....

Jon Lord's Modified C-3

The following information comes from a March, 1983 Keyboard Magazine interview between Jon Lord and Bob Doerschuk. The interview is reprinted in the book Rock Keyboard. (Thanks to KonZissis for the reference.)

Jon had (the guts of) an RMI Electra Piano wired into the key contacts of his C-3 so that on the upper manual he can play organ, RMI piano, or both at the same time. Also, the bottom two octaves of the lower manual can be hooked up to trigger a synthesizer (Minimoog).

Well on his 69 bday all i would like to wish him many many many more years of glory a nd well being...

Truly life wouldn't have been the same for many a aspirant rock keyboardists if there was no JON LORD

Here my pick of  Top Ten Jon Lord Must Haves:

1) Highway Star *
2) Burn*
3) Fireball*
4) Perfect Strangers*
5) The Evening song
6) Pictured within
7) Sarabande
8) Sunrise
9) Circles of stones
10) Sunrise

*- Deep Purple songs

Well check the videos of his solo on youtube listen to songs on :Last.fm and if u r an aspiring keyboardist google search his style, download his gp files, check out his videos..........

Once again happy birthday lord of keyboard.... :-) :-)

TWEET CHILD O MINE !!!.. A guide to what u can do on Twitter

Ohk.. so i was wondering abt the topic of my next post and thats when my good friend Roach came with a question.. " U douf ... what do u do all day on that shitty twitter"...So this post goes out for all those who have an account on twitter and have wondered what to do with it..And how has the world caught upon the craze with a a simple question: "Whatss on your mind"...(Well all of us know twitter is gone way beyond that.. its gone real time with videos, pics, retweets, hashtags, apps, tools and what not)..But in this era of microblogin that proves to be the most important question... :-)

Ps for those if any who have no idea what twitter is go to http://twitter.com/login get urself an account and have a feel of it first hand...Those who have mastered the art of microblogin leave comments so that i get know stuff...and those who r wondering read through the post.

Ohk lemme start of by tellin u guys why does twitter contain the power its said to have..Currently we have email, instant messenger, and VoIP tools like Skype as one-to-one or one-to-few online communication tools. For one-to-many online communication, online publishers can turn to blogs to create and distribute content rapidly and reach anyone on the web through RSS feeds.Twitter is a combination of these various forms of communication, but its primary difference is that posts, or tweets, are restricted to 140 characters or less. As a Twitter user you can post updates, follow and view updates from other users (this is akin to subscribing to a blog’s RSS feed), and send a public reply or private direct message to connect with another Twitterer...

Ok so lets get to specifics.. What can u do on twitter

1) Twitter for fun: Well a thing ive always wondered about is how do i keep myself occupied.. cause aim on e of the most jobless human being on the planet yet iam seldom if ever bored.. No Iam not gonna say that I twitter but what i have found out is that ive got shit loads of jobless friends aside me all the time...So whats the point.. The point here is twitter is an easy way to broadcast your messsages to all your friends...Gone r those days when u had to personally scrap each and every one now u can just answer the question whats on your mind... Let ur friends know.. and know from ur friends..

Whats more u have tools, apps, and games u can sync ur twitter account with......to mention a few 140 mafia, tweetfight, snods(which expands as  Social Networks Online Defence Squad),trivia and my personal fav Spymaster....to say a lil bit about Spymaster:in this you play a character of Spy for any of these agencies; American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), or the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB). And the game is all about your pursuit of becoming a Bond (with a caliber of James Bond). It is worth trying as it has surely revolutionized the whole concept of social networking games. Discover it...WARNING: its highly addictive.... :-)...

Among tools and apps.. U could literally give power to a city for an year if u divert the power spent on making Twitter apps and tools.. there r shit loads of them online..to retweet, to hastag,to create a new fridayfollow, to send easy tweets, to manage tweets and for every possible human online action.. just google your requirement out guys....

2)Twitter for jobs: Well yea...Its not a woohoooo concept... It would require the same skills out of u as it would take a person roamin around from one recruiter to the othe rfor a job..well ur activity would be just less physical... Well lets face no one gives u a job for nothin.. and ppl recruitin are smart.. so all thise ppl who have got the idea that they r just a couple of clicks away from a new job,, all ive got to tell u is get ur head outta ur arse...but TWITTER HELPS A GREAT DEAL NEVERTHELESS....

Ohk here the traditinal approach is make an impressive profile, add a link to your CV.. utilize the background to promote yourself... tweet about your field, get ppl interested in your tweets when they search(or arrange for retweets .. hehehehe...)..Get to know the right ppl through their bio(Stats tell that lotta recruiter use twitter for recruitment)..Send them direct message.. basically get interested in u or atleast in your account...BLAH BLAH..I have no clue how many ppl have got themselves employed this way.. but neways thats not the way Iam asking u to do it

I d like to give u guys 2 AMAZING TOOLS FOR SEARCHIN FOR JOBS ON TWITTER...

@Microjobs

Started by well-known PR professional, Brian Solis, @Microjobs was developed to bring together job seekers and recruiters through tweets.

How does it work?

Recruiters begin their tweets with @Microjobs, and then submit. The @Microjobs account automatically tweets out requests to its growing network of job seekers.

TweetMyJobs

Another tool born out of Twitter for job seekers and recruiters. Follow the hashtag #Tweetmyjobs and visit the website. This is a very simple (and free) tool for job seekers. You can subscribe to desired job channels and even have new openings automatically sent to your mobile phone. Even better? You can specify which cities you want notifications from.
Job search accounts:

There are a variety of Twitter accounts dedicated to providing job listings by field, company, region, and more. Once you’ve decided which best match your job search, consider turning on mobile alerts for these accounts to be among the first to receive messages (if your mobile phone plan includes SMS messages).

3)Twitter For Work: Well the real power of twitter is amount of ppl logged onto it.. all the above said turns to crap without it..This global nature of twitter has been a boon for the class of society that we fondly call celebs.. They can now connect with their fans in a way that dosent breach their highly valued privacy :-s and still reach out to each and evry one who wants to know abt them... I know u dont wanna read ne more abt this crap...So waht if SRK has 400,000 followers.. how does it make the experience any more usefull for us?

Well wanna promote an event.. or just let ppl know ur rock band is playin somewhere for that extra bit of crowd...Tweet it out mate(to be pronounced in an austrailian accent.. sounds weird without it....)...get a few retweets.. ppl will search.. ppl will stumble upon ur tweet

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ohk what do u do if u r as jobless as me and are into twitter for nothin specific... Well search out key words u love.. find out how other ppl in the world feel abt it.. read their tweets.. follow their links.. see their pics..follow them if u find them interesting...Retweet the tweets u find interesting....and yea answer the most important question Whats on your mind?

If u r a coder.. the api s available.. the forum s runnin.. the documentation s available... get ur cap thinking cap on.. make an app.. share it with the world.. and just see the world using your creation
visit  http://dev.twitter.com/

And if u still r not having fun.. u r not engineered for social networking.. which is not a bad trait.. shut down ur pc... have a cup of coffee.. read a book.. text ur friends...let the world tweet itself out...ha ha

CHAO guys, see ya with the next post......
